Dr. Thai obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University. He received extensive training in ocular disease from ophthalmologists at the Eye Centers of South Florida, working alongside specialists to provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing cataract, refractive and retinal surgery, and to co-manage complex conditions including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and glaucoma.

He has also been trained by internationally renowned experts in specialty contact lenses and scleral lenses, helping restore vision for patients with keratoconus and corneal transplants, and provides primary eye care and myopia management for patients of all ages.

At Waterloo, Dr. Thai conducted clinical research at the Centre for Ocular Research and Education, co-authoring a published study on axial-length measurement for myopia management and presenting the findings at the American Academy of Optometry annual meeting. He served as Lead Ambassador for the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and the Waterloo Eye Institute, working with the school Director and Members of Parliament to advance the profession.

He is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and registered with the College of Optometrists of Ontario. In his free time he enjoys travelling, horseback riding and golf. He is fluent in English and Vietnamese.

Dr. Harjit Gill earned both his Doctor of Optometry and his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Waterloo, graduating on the Dean’s Honour List. He is registered with the College of Optometrists of Ontario.

Dr. Gill provides full-scope primary eye care for patients of all ages, with a particular interest in the detection and co-management of glaucoma, cataract and diabetic eye disease. He works closely within the U Vision Group specialist network to coordinate pre- and post-operative care and timely referral when a patient needs surgical or subspecialty attention.

Earlier in his career he volunteered with the CNIB as a Vision Mate and youth group leader, supporting people living with vision loss. He is fluent in English, Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi.

Dr. Jingtao Qu brings more than 15 years in eye care, with an academic and clinical background spanning China Medical University, a PhD in Ophthalmology from Kanazawa Medical University in Japan, and the University of Waterloo.

Drawing on extensive ophthalmology training, Dr. Qu diagnoses and manages eye disease including cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, and provides pre- and post-operative co-management coordinated within the U Vision Group specialist network.

Her doctoral and academic research focused on cataract and the optics of the crystalline lens, with findings published in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals and presented at international meetings, including those of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).

She believes healthy eyes and good vision play a critical role in personal well-being. Because the eyes change throughout one's lifetime, she makes health education and disease prevention core to her practice, and genuinely enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and their families. She is fluent in English, Japanese and Mandarin.

Dr. Kit Tung Ip received her Bachelor of Science with Honours from the University of Waterloo, then completed her Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, where she graduated as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

After practising for over a decade in Boston, Dr. Ip brings her experience from the prestigious Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, a multidisciplinary eye care centre, to the U Vision Group. She also served for several years as an optometry residency supervisor, mentoring the next generation of clinicians.

Her professional interest lies in specialty and custom contact lens fitting for high prescriptions, irregular corneas, post-surgical cases and prosthetics, alongside conventional contact lens wear. A member of the Scleral Lens Education Society, she also provides primary eye care for children and adults.

With Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, Dr. Ip made humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic, providing care and glasses to communities without access to eye care. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, and is thrilled to serve the Toronto community where she grew up.

Dr. Lisa Tran graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Biology (High Distinction), then earned her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo on the Dean’s Honour List. She completed clinical ocular-disease training in Kitchener, Ontario, and at the Parkland Hospital ophthalmology clinic in Dallas, Texas. She is registered with the College of Optometrists of Ontario and is a member of the Ontario and Canadian Associations of Optometrists.

Dr. Tran cares for patients of all ages. Her clinical interests include the prevention, management and treatment of ocular disease, paediatric eye care, binocular vision, and contact lens fitting. She works closely with ophthalmologists in the U Vision Group specialist network to co-manage and provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing cataract surgery, living with glaucoma, or diagnosed with corneal and retinal disease.

She has volunteered on optometric mission trips to Peru with VOSH International and to Mexico with I-Care International, providing eye care in underserved rural communities. She is multilingual, communicating with patients in English, French, Cantonese and Mandarin, and also understands Vietnamese.

Dr. Vicky Chiu is an experienced member of our optometric team. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Waterloo and earned her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry, completing clinical rotations in paediatrics, binocular vision, ocular disease, low vision and contact lenses at hospitals and clinics across the United States. A Dean's List graduate recognized with a clinical excellence award for rigid gas permeable (RGP) lens fitting, she is board certified to practise in Canada and the United States.

Dr. Chiu provides comprehensive health and vision care for patients of all ages, offering full-scope primary care including paediatric eye care, ocular disease management, and the fitting of soft, specialty and rigid gas permeable contact lenses. She works closely with ophthalmologists to provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing cataract and laser vision correction, and is experienced in low-vision assessment and devices for patients with reduced sight.

She is patient and compassionate, striving to provide excellent clinical care to every patient, and is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
